周文为解救遭调戏的女友，杀死日本浪人，闯下大祸。在他的父兄多方解救下，侥幸逃脱并化名周卫国考入军校，由于成绩优异被送到德国留学。抗日战争全面爆发后，周卫国虽然奋勇杀敌，无奈国军接连败退，不断丢城失地，尤其是他的未婚妻为免遭日军凌辱而自杀，自己眼睁睁地看着却无法解救，更让周卫国国仇家恨集于一身。国军溃败，周卫国流落到八路军根据地，他历经波折，从一个只知道单纯杀鬼子报仇发展到成为成熟的八路军指战员，并组建了代号“雪豹”的特战队，为抗战事业做出了贡献。在荣誉和名利面前，他淡然处之，成就了一段传奇。
